Set before Rapture’s eventual fall from ideological state into Darwinistic gauntlet, Burial At Sea, Episode 1 lets Infinite players dive into the murky backstory of the underwater city, exploring Ryan’s vision before it all goes a bit pear-shaped.

If you’re spoiler averse, take caution.

Despite being only five minutes long, the video hints at what we can expect from the DLC. It’s an entirely new story, replete with the plasmids of the original and all the art-deco beauty synonymous with the BioShock title. Booker and Elizabeth meet for the first time, and there are hints that point towards a whole new dynamic in their relationship (namely; Elizabeth is the dominant one this time around, almost bullying Booker into following her lead).

The whole feeling of the DLC smoulders with a film-noir vibe, even down to the well-chosen of dialogue. We expect the story to descend into madness just after the five minute demo showcased here, hopefully explaining more about the symbiotic link Rapture and Columbia seem to share, and why Booker and Elizabeth have found themselves in the submerged state. Fittingly, gameplay elements have been tweaked to deliver a more authentic BioShock experience.

With no set release date, it’s estimated that Burial at Sea will be available around Christmas, with no word on when episode 2 will drop.
