10. Amy Hennig
Twitter: @amy_hennig
The writer behind the Uncharted series doesn’t spend a huge amount of her Tweeting time talking about work, but she’s one for responding to fan questions and retweeting interesting posts about the celebrated series of videogames for which she’s known.

9. David Jaffe
Twitter: @davidscottjaffe
Known for shooting his mouth off about a range of industry-related topics, Jaffe is surprisingly sharp in 140 characters (or less). Smart, witty and willing to interact with his followers, the God Of War and Twisted Metal creator is one of the most engaging industry personalities to take to Tweeting.

8. Peter Molyneux/Peter Molydeux
Twitter: @pmolyneux/@petermolydeux
Molyneux’s departure from Lionhead Studios and Microsoft caused something of a stir in the industry. Since then the ebullient developer has unleashed a torrent of cryptic clues for his next project at 22 Cans. Meanwhile, Molydeux is a clever parody of the sometimes overzealous developer, perpetually Tweeting eccentric game proposals to the wide world. Things went really meta, though, when the two began responding to one another.

7. Markus ‘Notch’ Persson
Twitter: @notch
The geek that done good. Notch became an overnight internet sensation, amassing a huge following and exalted to one of the most influential figures in development thanks to his creation Minecraft. Happy to talk coding, engage the Minecraft community and answer any burning questions, this is a man who truly understands the Twitterverse.

6. Ken Levine
Twitter: @IGLevine
One of the biggest creative forces in the industry, Ken Levine is also one of the geekiest. The BioShock and System Shock developer fills his Twitter feed with nerdy sci-fi prattle, opinions on the latest game releases and few choice chunks about the hotly-anticipated BioShock Infinite.

5. Cliff Bleszinski
Twitter: @therealcliffyb
The self-styled rockstar of the gaming biz, Bleszinski has attracted his fair share of devotees and detractors alike. His online presence is filled with his usual mix of bloated arrogance and fan service, but it’s fair to say that there’s no one else quite like him.

4. Tim Schafer
Twitter: @timoflegend
The so-hot-right-now co-creator of Monkey Island has attracted a swathe of new followers off the back of his Kickstarter success. Oh, and he’s also one of the most witty, hilarious and affable gaming luminaries online. Now that he has reteamed with fellow Monkey man Ron Gilbert, there’s absolutely no reason why you wouldn’t want to track the daily goings-on of Double Fine’s head cheese.

3. John Carmack
Twitter: @id_aa_carmack
Carmack is sort of a niche wonder on Twitter. The extraordinarily talented developer responsible for Doom and Quake spends his days tweeting precise coding terminology that will read alien for most. Nevertheless, it remains a fascinating look at the peaks and troughs faced by coders on a daily basis.

2. Robert Bowling
Twitter: @fourzerotwo
Ex-Infinity Ward man and now president of his own indie studio, Robotoki, Bowling has a huge presence on Twitter, previously sharing tips and tactics with COD fans and laying the gauntlet down for online battles. Keep ’em peeled on his feed for news about what he’s up to next.

1. Hideo Kojima
Twitter: @hideo_kojima_en
The Metal Gear Solid creator is less interested in talking shop on his Twitter account than he is snapping culinary delicacies and posting pictures of Spider-Man pants. His enthusiasm is infectious to say the least, but we do wish he’d tease a bit more about what he is up to next!
